The project included creating an enclosed office with a Murphy Bed in the loft (I'm unsure of the exact cost because Pinnacle will only provide lump sum costs for the total job). Unfortunately, Pinnacle neglected to consider HVAC for the room until I visited the site during construction and discovered it was totally closed in (no ventilation whatsoever) and sweltering. Pinnacle also failed to identify that the new room would require modifications to the fire suppression sprinklers in the approved design and budget, resulting in a change order for $3,395.

Makeshift HVAC

After I identified the HVAC in the room as a deficiency, Pinnacle's solution was to install a bathroom fan. However, they managed to bungle that as well. Instead of pulling cold air from the adjacent room with the air conditioner into the hot room, they vented the hot air from the enclosed room into the room with the air conditioner and installed a cold air return where there is LITERALLY no cold air. Now I have a very expensive closet, essentially. The bathroom fan is an eyesore and not at all effective (see temperature reading after the fan was installed).

Murphy Bed - $11,737.96

A custom built Murphy bed was installed in the room. Despite paying extra to have the wall behind the bed painted and instructions on the plans to leave the back open, Pinnacle installed the back anyway and covered the Telus Fibre internet connection box in the process. They also broke a hinge and a closing mechanism on the cupboards during installation.

When I identified the need for access to the Telus Fibre internet connection, their solution was to cut out eight holes to find the box. It turns out that there is a shelf installed over the top half of the connection box preventing it from opening. The entire bed will need to be dismantled to gain access to the connection box. Pinnacle has not addressed the damage to the bed or provided access to the Telus box.

Outlet placement

Example of Pinnacle's poor planning and willingness to accept a substandard condition.
